What the…? Holy…! I can’t believe they…! No, they didn’t do…! NOOOOOO! Are they out of their…?

These are all thoughts that passed through my mind as I read the latest issue of Guradians of the Galaxy. From out of no where, DnA constructed an issue that surprised the heck out of me in terms of where the story goes. Just as they reunite the team in the correct timeline, things go south quickly, leading to some unexpected twists and turns. It was a thrilling ride to say the least. As many of you may have heard, there were some deaths in this issue, and many of them were completely unexpected. Deep down, I know though that these deaths will probably not be permanent, although the fallout from them will be felt in the seres for a long, long time. Why do I have such faith? Well, when you’re talking about a series so entrenched in the cosmic side of Marvel that’s entrenched in multiple timelines from multiple galaxies overlapping, you know that somehow loop holes will be found. Does this diminish the issue in any way? Not at all. In fact, it harkens back to the older times in comics when issues would end with people dead or dying, just to get readers to come back. And it’s definitely working here.

Some have complained about the art. Is it the right fit for the series? No, I think not. It’s a bit too cartoony for my tastes, but in terms of storytelling, it does a good job and the emotional impact of the loss is there. The art duties are much more suited to a more epic storytelling style, with a bit more realism or detail to it.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 3 - Good
