My first review. Here goes nothing.
Let me start off by saying that while I like to believe that I have the experience and ability to analyze/review writing, I definitely don't think I'm as good at reviewing art. As a result, I'm going to start off with it. Now, when Wesley Craig first did the art for this series, I definitely wasn't a fan. His cartoony style was a complete departure from what Pelletier was doing, so I immediately disliked it. However, after reading this issue, I realize that his art is really not "bad", it's just different and not what I would prefer for enjoying the comic as much as possible. The facial expressions are clear and effective, especially when it comes to expressing shock. My only complaints come with the detail/textures of environments. I was pretty intrigued by this new reality/world the team came to, but it's not detailed enough in my opinion, even if it's just background.
So for the story/writing. I've been enjoying the heck out of this series, but this issue was dull for me. Nothing too pivotal happens and nothing really important is revealed either. In comparison, unfortunately, this issue falls even shorter because of what went on last issue. Last issue was crazy, and this issue slowed down the momentum a bit too much for me. Star Lord and the gang are still in deep trouble, and their situation is intriguing, but I don't know, this issue just didn't seem to have enough substance. The team fell into this reality and got out pretty easily, and that's about it. I guess that's the point, since the team is trying to get back to their own time, but still, how they managed to escape this reality wasn't that interesting or entertaining. The actual dialogue was great, though, in my opinion. The humor was still prevalent in this issue, which is something that this series always excels at. I also love the subtle fact that no matter where Peter and the gang end up, they always find an alternate version of the Guardians of the Galaxy, further emphasizing how important the team is and how dedicated they are to protecting the universe, which I think is an ongoing theme of the series. The version we encounter this issue seems to be very passionate about protecting their world, and I love seeing that.
