It’s safe to say this is not Green Lantern anymore. Not with Johns clearly focusing on Larfleeze, Atrocious, Sinestro, Ferris, and other members of the other color Corps. Hal Jordan is like, 5-6th in line, in terms of important characters. Now that isn’t a problem…..if this book wasn’t called GREEN LANTERN.

The various plot points is starting to give me a headache. If we’re not following Carol and Hal (Hal is 2nd for obvious reasons), we’re following Larfleeze. If we’re not following Larfleeze then it’s Atrocious. If it isn’t ANY of them, then it’s a one-page focus on a character that won’t even appear in this issue. (What happened to Spectre trying to find the Rage entity DC?) I mean it’s written well, I don’t want to think that Johns isn’t doing a good job. It’s just that the focus of this book is starting to get out of hand. Then again I am not a fan of Larfleeze as Johns is, so it would be nice if he would stop focusing on him like he is the main character of the book. There is a mystery with Hal trying to hide his actions to the Corps, but it almost feels like an afterthought for Johns. Pretty much sums up the entire storyarc of this series so far.

Mahnke has been the only thing consistant with this title and I’m damn glad that is the case. He fits right in with all of the various aliens, monsters, constructs, and anything else Johns throws in this book. My praise for him in this issue is pretty much all the same in every other issue he’s done. However, I did notice a bit of a problem with the inking in this. Mahnke always seems to have various people to ink his work (usually 3+ an issue). It’s never been a problem, nor have I noticed it in my readings. Here though I did notice characters looking different in different pages which took me out of the reading even more so a bit. It’s not a huge deal breaker but the various inkers really stands out in this particular issue.

I just want Geoff Johns to focus fully on Hal Jordan again. There is a moment where Carol refers to Cowgirl as Hal’s girlfriend. I literally forgot who that was for a good couple of minutes before it hit me who Cowgirl was. That’s how little Johns has focused on Jordan; he has had a girlfriend for 2 years now and he has barely mentioned her in that time. Just give me more of Jordan and a little less hectic pacing for the other Corp members. That’s all I ask.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good

    Also, it’s AtrocITOUS, not atrocious.
