If there is an award for Best Opening Sequence In A Comic, Johns  and Mahnke should win it for this issue.  It was so great, I almost put the book down so as not to have the comic cheapened for me.

All in all, I thought the plot and the dialog were solid Johns, and Mahnke’s art is perfect here.  My only regret was flipping to that last page.  I suppose it might not be a terrible reveal, but it has a terrible awful no good very bad potential.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

Comments

  1. (Possible?) SPOILERS:

Is the last page the start of the Lobo stuff that Johns’ been talking about?

  2. SPOILERS BELOW:

@DarkKnightJedi: I rarely read/listen to interviews to avoid that kind of spoilery.  But, yes.  Yes, it is.

  3. That Lobo business was just… something. To me.

But I like the issue a great deal!
