Geoff Johns and Doug Mahnke go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly. You can’t go wrong with the results! The last issue was just an orgy of excitment, badass moments, and perfect art.

The issue continues last issue’s trend by being…..well just as perfect as before. Nothing to complain about in this issue, it is just a blast to read. You pretty much have me right at the opening where Luthor is fighting Larfleeze for control; all the while he’s trying to convert Superman into the Corps. Awesome. Then the finale to the Spectre/Parallax fight is here and it doesn’t disappoint. There’s so many things to say that happens in this issue that I just can’t bring myself to spoil it for you all. Let’s just say that the page involving Atrocious and Spectre made me squeel with delight. I will admit that the fight promised in this did end abruptly for me, but it makes sense. I mean we can’t have Hal being like this with only two more issues of the main event to finish.

Mahnke….and that’s all I need to say. (Oh and how disturbing was that panel with Parallax ripping off Spectre’s face! Sick.)

Two months ago I was worried about this series. Feeling like this was going to end up like failed events from the past couple of years. It’s not happening though, this event (along with this title) has just been a blast to read and it’s been on the right track. There is one thing that makes me excited for the future that I should point out:

Where did Parallax go and how is Hector Hammond involved? There we go, the next event after Blackest Night.

Comments

  1. That "face ripping" page was kind of crazy, too realistic! I really enjoyed this issue too.

  2. TNC, I think you should change this to YES, reveals spoilers. While you don’t give away the story you do give away some great moments.

  3. Oh nextchampy this thing is filled with spoilers but a good review non the less.  This was as grest as nextchamp puts it, perfect.  The oh shit moments I had to reread them because they were so awesome.
