Massively hyped.  Standards set somewhere in the stratosphere.  How on Earth can Blackest Night possibly live up to the zillion decade prologue, and the wild internet speculation?  Easy, Geoff Johns continues to write it.

The first issue focuses on William Hand’s journey from creepy little boy to The Black Lantern.  And it’s a messed up journey.  Starting from his encounter with the Green Lanterns and Atrocious from the Secret Origin storyline, and ending with his ascendence to Black Lanternhood, this is a tell of a highly disturbed kid who grows up to become…well…highly disturbederer…er.

The art in this issue is appropriately sick in each meaning of the word.  With a rather disturbing way for a man to become something hideous.

Can’t wait to read the next issue.  Though, you know, I have to.
