Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Glue Lantern Corps! Um... Breen Lantern Corps? Cyan Lantern Corps? Anyways...
So, the "Rage of the Red Lanterns" is now over and I'm going to say I've enjoyed it a great deal. It had everything you'd want from a Green Lantern issue right now-- action, plot development, good characters, and two brand new corps with all new abilities and limitations. The decision to make Hal a Bluish-Green Lantern is interesting. I worry it's going to make the character overpowered but we shall see in the coming issues how this'll shake down. The return of Carol as Star Sapphire was expected but organic. I specifically like how the Omens and Origins was pretty much a continuation of the story, even if there's some stuff that doesn't quite synch up there.
Like I said about a year ago, I'm liking that, so far, all of these corps so far have some sort of grounding in the mythos of the past with Ganthet running the Blues and the last of the Empire of Tears running the Reds with the Darkstar Controllers seeking out the Orange. I'm liking how the Blue Lanterns have expanded and retracted from the power levels of the other corps to get them a nice balance in this thing that's different from the other Corps. I think it's also a good choice to present the Reds as the Beserkers of the various Corps to keep tham from simply being Sinestro Corps 2.0. It'll be interesting to see how Johns plans to keep the Orange from being thematically different from Yellow and Red.
I'm not quite sure when the Blackest Night kicks off, but I'm liking the slow boil it's building towards rather than a rapid "Oop... we got Corps coming outta nowhere!" Honestly, with this quality, I'll take Johns as slow as he wants to go. The pieces are really sliding together nicely between the Corps and the characters coming into position. Next issue should not only be the rise of the Orange Lanterns but the appearance of Sinestro's daughter. Also, we have a potential Sinestro/Mongul battle on our hands! If you're looking to jump on this book, next issue would be a nice place to do it.

I really hope a Sinestro/Mongul fight happens soon…..the fact that they mentioned in the issue about what Mongul is doing in GLC made me giddy.
