It would only take the appearance of Rage Cat to make this issue more epic…

It seems like it was an eternity since the Red Lantern one shot came out.  Now, part II is here and Good Lord is it great.  Here, we’re given the schtick on the Blue Lanterns as Walker, new recruit Warth and Hal Jordan go off to on their mission to Ysmault, bookended by scenes of Sinestro’s captivity at the hands of Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns.  While Hal stands in awe and supiscion of this new Corps, Sinestro is having a battle of wills with his bloodthirsty tormentor.  By the issue’s end, revelations about Hal’s supposed future and Sinestro’s past serve to turn things up a notch even higher.

Johns has built a greatly complex space opera with political intrigue, philosophical conflict, and rich deep characters supported by Ivan Reis’ terrific pencils.  The writing and the art here come together to show, after a year removed of the Sinestro Corps War, this book doesn’t look to be dropping its quality anytime soon.
