An outstanding finish to a less than gratifying series.  I absolutely loved Night Witches and Dear Billy, but until this final issue I really wasn’t digging this current arc.  I’ve found in the short time that I’ve been reading comics that arcs are often defined by at least one issue that makes any less than good issue(s) in said arc generally more agreeable.  This book brought a complete sense of closure to this series and left me wanting more.  Once I got the hang of the accents I was able to glide through this issue when before, it took me at least 20 minutes to decipher.  The second book I caught on to what I was reading and by the third book I was rolling along just fine.

For what I’ve read thus far in comics, no one else in the medium seems to have as much dedication to historical narrative as does Ennis.  He takes stories that haven’t been shown or aired on the History Channel a umpteen times, and gives perspectives of people that usually do not get much of the limelight.  He has wrapped himself in a less than popular niche and drawn out the true blood of those that fought for their respective rights to life, or freedom, or whatever the hell someone in a situation like that fights for.  The three arcs are a triumph of devotion and brilliance.  Well done, brother!!! To history majors, this is a historical and visual orgasm.
