An entertaining and well told issue. I find the subject matter to be quite interesting. Rarely are we served up war stories that have the protagonists as either female or Russian. Here they are both.

After a brief online search (you know I mean wikipedia and all links related) it appears that Ennis is writing with relative historic accuracy. The Po-2 was supposedly loud plane that was created for training and crop dusting. It could be heard for miles away. While difficult to see on radar, it could be easily caught in a what the Russians called a "flak circus." This scenario is portrayed brilliantly by artist Braun in a two page center spread. The pilots had to develop tactics to handle the flak and spotlights. The tease for issue two eludes to that. I highly recommend picking up this first issue, and look forward to the next.
