Batman in Barcelona was a welcome surprise this week. Didn't know it was coming out this week or even if I should pick it up when I saw it, but I am glad I did. The book's events do not happen in DC current time. So we get to have Bruce Wayne under the cowl. In the story Croc has made his way to Barcelona, Spain and Batman has comes to bring him back to Gotham.
The story isn't really a deep one, not really having any underlying themes. It's more of just a fun entertaining story of Batman operating outside of the U.S.. Which is really cool when you see how the citizens and police react to his presences and how different it is from Gotham. As well, another cool bit to see was that Bruce had bat caves scattered across the globe for these kinds of situations. Then with Diego Olmos's art, it really evokes the feel of Spain.
Overall, this is a good story to read when you want a short break from the current events in the Batman universe. I only wish that it was made into a short miniseries, instead of a one shot. I didn't want it end when I finished, another issue extending the story would have been cool.
