I’d never read Abnett and Lanning’s stuff but many love it and I like Wonder
Woman so I was looking forward to this. Was it good?

Probably. It certainly was a decent setup and revealed a lot about why there is a
war between Themyscira and Atlantis. My first reaction was slight dissatisfaction. Perhaps it was the artwork which was average or better but not without style and personality. Or maybe it’s just that this issue was mostly plot and not quite enough character. Also, I think I am guilty of prejudice a little bit. I suppose I was hoping to see more of Wonder Woman and Aquaman but
this episode was more about Diana and Arthur before they were who they
eventually became.

I did enjoy that it explored the DCU from the perspective of royal
politics which makes a lot of sense due to Atlantis and Themyscira being
in the proper sense, kingdoms. And though I was slightly disappointed
in the story I can’t honestly point out flaws in it.

Count me in for the rest of the series. I think there’s enough going on here to scratch my itch.
