This issue of the Flash left me breathless.  Not only did it have an amazing sequence (which I’ll get to in a moment), but it also ended on an amazing story note that has me clamoring for the next issue.  This story picks up where we left off last issue.  The Reverse Rogues had just captured The Flash when Captain Boomerang showed up and ruined all their fun.  The fight between Captain Boomerang and Flash takes on it’s standard flair that is, of course, until Captain Boomerang blows up a helicopter.

What Johns does so well with the Flash is that he takes the time to show him moving fast, but then also is able to piece together these incredible moments that show time as it happens in Flash’s perspective.  There’s this incredible 7 page sequence where the Flash rescues the people in the chopper that blew my mind.  To the naked eye, it probably happened in the span of a millisecond, but on these pages, it looks so incredible.  After that sequence, we’re finally told just why it is the Reverse Rogues are hunting the Flash, and the reason is a doozy, which will lead to even more awesome story points from here on out.

Manapaul’s art continues to be the shining star of this series.  I mean, seriously, it’s flippin’ gorgeous, and books just don’t get much more beautiful than this.  I love how the coloring in the book has this textured, almost charcoal look to it.  It’s really complements Manapaul’s pencils and really adds depth to all of the art.  This is just one damn fine looking book.
