  1. "As someone who loved Morrison’s R.I.P. storyline, it completely blows my mind to think that the whole thing took place in Batman’s mind as he was strapped into the machine probing his mind. "

I wasn’t. In fact in those issues it was explictly stated that Batman survived the plane crash and then went into Final Crisis where he was captured

  2. @MastaP~  Where was that stated?  I’ve read those issues, and I don’t recall something explicitly being said about the plane crash and moving into Final Crisis.  If you could give the issue number, that would help me out.

I think it will be interesting to see how they handle Batman’s disappearance in other books now that Final Crisis 6 has hit.  They been pretty ambiguous in the other books about his true disappearance.

  3. ^The bridge of between RIP and Final Crisis #1 was covered in a flashback toward the end of Batman #683. Bruce made his way back to the Batcave, had a brief exchange with Alfred, and then hurried away because the JLA had an emergency, which is where we find him in FC #1.

I think that Morrison initially wanted us to QUESTION whether RIP was indeed all a dream–see the opening of Batman #682–but over the course of 682 and 683 we find out (with some difficulty) that this wasn’t the case.

  4. Ah, you know what, now that you mentioned it, I do remember that one or two panels.  Doh!  I’m an idiot.  I’ll make some changes to the review then.

    Thanks for the clarification folks.

  5. I think RIP works much better if it IS all in Bruce’s head.

  6. ok now im even more confused i think this whole blog is in my head.

    1. how and when did he escape from the crash?

    2. night wing was holding the cowl did he ever know he escaped?

3 and most importantly WHAT WAS THE POINT OF R.I.P. i mean it didnt affect anything in final crisis really. the  whole so called ”story line" could have been sumed up in one less confusing issue. to me it was just a red herring/filler/ POINLESS EVENT etc
