The Grant Morrison confusion hour! Today's issue: Final Crisis #4

Yes it's that time of month again where we all sit back and ponder just what the hell Grant Morrison wrote this week. Now I have loved Final Crisis since it started. It feels fresh and new and I love the story he is telling. But I understand the complaints and they are just; this isnt an event for the comic noobs. It's complex with minor characters, weird storytelling, and a plot that has so far made little sense. But this event has been entertaining, in that Morrison knows how to write a story and he knows damn well we love to talk about his work. He makes his stories hard to understand because he wants us to interpret them like a real novel.

Basically this issue was a call to arms of all the heroes to hold up and start fighting. We go practically all over the world to see how the heroes are coping and what their next plan is. There was some great moments with Black Adam (on his skull throne), to a kick ass pahr with Green Arrow. (the archers in the comic world had great moments this week) On the flip side we got a reuinon of Barry and Wally and I really enjoyed their conversation together. Wally's right, Barry was dead and now would be a great time to actually feel great that he's come back. Finally a great monologue threw-out the issue with Turpin finally turning into (censored: not ruining the whole issue mind you)

The flip side of this fun issue was the art. Damnation that we now know Jones is off this event soon...considering he isnt even mentioned for issue 7. But this was still a good looking issue, and it's a shame he isnt staying for the long run. Although I dont feel bad for him, he had a full year to get started on this issue and he almost cause a massive delay because he wasnt done with this issue. Still Pacheco does a great filling in for him, even though you can clearly tell what his work is compared to Jones.

Overall this was a fun issue, it definitely looks bleak for DCU right now. But Morrison is great at making the villains look good, then doing a 180 turn and make the heroes fight back. I'm sure story wise this is going to get even better (and more conufsing) from here. But we'll have to wait and see what's in store for this (and the art) next month.
