I became a Hickman fan through his creator-owned works. I didn’t start reading Fantastic Four until the renumbering and lauch of FF. So I missed all the stuff leading up to it. Luckily, I have been able to pick up trades of the previous issues and what an epic story it has been. It’s very sad to see it come to a close. I think that made this issue even MORE touching that just a regular issue. The tone was perfect. The older Franklin serves as a symbol for Hickman, who doesn’t want to leave but knows he must, so Franklin takes the kids (and Hickman takes us) on one last frantic, genre-mashup adventure. Not to mention some laughs along the way with Johnny and Ben. But this issue might be Hickman at his most poignant. It’s not a cry-fest, but it sure is touching. Dragotta’s art was just perfect for the tone and mood of the book. This will most likely be my POTW, once I get done reading the other books I got. I just kinda know, you know?

I’m really gonna miss this book, as well as Hickman on Fantastic Four. Thanks for the ride, guys!
