After the sour taste left in my mouth following Fear Itself 2 and 3, I was pissed that they were killing Bucky. Again. The guy that got me reading Captain America True, I'd started with #25 and Steve's "death," like I'm sure a lot of people did, but went back and bought everything up to that point in trade, and Bucky quickly became my favorite character in the book. When he took up the mantle of Cap, I was hesitant, because I knew that would probably dull his characterization somewhat. And then they had to go and kill him. Again. Leaving the whole "Hey, there are other Winter Soldier assassins out there" storyline in the cold, cold wastes of that Russian Gulag. I mean, I had my hunches, and always in the back of my mind I was saying "Screw you guys if he's dead, screw you if Bucky's dead." But BUCKY LIVES!!!! Ed Brubaker, you magnificent bastard. To top that off, he's getting his own book next year, written by Brubaker and with art by Butch Guice (who did a beautiful job here). I can hardly wait.
