Just like when The Douchebag from My Chemical Romance invaded our comic book stores a couple of years ago, you’re going to see this comic “inspired” by the works of The Douhebag From Fallout Boy, and you’re going to want to hate it.

The Douchebag From My Chemical Romance became, to me and many of my customers, That Genius Coic Book Writer, Gerard Way.  Author of one of the finest indie comics being put out.

The same will not be true for Pete Wentz.

Dont get me wrong, this isn’t a horrendous comic that will make you want to tear it into tiny pieces and punch a fourteen year old girl in the face.  This isjust one of those averagely written comics based on a tremendously cliche idea (imagine…builiding a robot WHO FEELS LOVE!!!!).  Something that needs excellent art to hold your attention, and, perhaps distract you from the, at best, so-so storytelling.  Luckily for Wentz and Lewis (the actual writer of this comic…it’s merely base on Wentz’s lyrics, it’s not actually written by him) , Sam Basri has created a gorgeous world for these characters to inhabit.  It is to futuristic art what Scott Wegener’s work is to retro art.

The biggest disappointment of this comic is that it wasn’t put out by Marvel, as it references Pinnochio several times.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. I don’t get the Marvel/Pinnochio reference, but I found this review quite helpful.

  2. @AlexG Disney bought Marvel…

  3. ohhh duhh of course! Missed that…

  4. As a worried FOB fan, I was afraid this was going to be pretty bad. However, I was rather impressed, the idea of a robot feeling love, cliche perhaps, but I feel this was and more importantly will be handled uniquely. Looking forward to issue two.
