Maybe it’s because I was so dissapointed by previous Black Panther runs.  Or, maybe it’s because my current boycotting of all X-books (x-cept X-Factor) is making me nostalgic for the mutants, but I was really surprised by just how much I enjoyed this comic.

You don’t have to have read any Black Panther or X-books to get the gist of this: Wakanda has been taken over by insurgents who appear to be working for Dr. Doom.  This issue explains his ultimate goal, and how the Panthers and the mutants plan to take back Wakanda, and rescue Princess Ororo (The X-Men’s Storm, who has been taken prisoner by the insurgents).

The art looks quite a bit like good Maleev.  Very sketchy and shadowy, but not as photo real as recent Maleev work.  And the background colors are intense.
