Doc Macabre is a pretty fun read and experience. The issue starts out with the first panel in black and white and introduces color into the second panel very subtley and elegant. The color palette continues to transition into full color, once again very elegant. The story is a great idea, which feels like an expanded out idea from Creepy or Tales from the crypt story. It really is horror with a humorous twist. The issue serves as an introduction and raises questions about who is Doc Macabre, and follows up with an interview at the end of the issue.  Doc Macabre has some celebrity status for the duties performed, but gets his butt handed to him in this latest case.

 The art work provided by Bernie Wrightson is a fit for the story, which has his distinct rendition of characters. Although not the Bernie of the past years, there is something to be said about Bernie's approach which can be refreshing. The art work and Tom Smith's color work provide a great art experience.
