Everybody already knows that Detective is the place to find the greatest stories about Dick Grayson in this day and age, but who would argue that the title is the best all out current source of Batman tales today?  I would make that argument.

The really surprising thing about it all is that I didn’t even know the name Scott Snyder a year ago.  Then, all of a sudden, he is the new writer of Tec as of issue #871, and he hasn’t put out anything near a bad issue yet!  The guy totally rocks at writing Grayson & Gordon, and although I’m now focusing more on Snyder’s run and not so much this very issue, he isn’t bad at writing Bullock either.

Being not a super big comic nerd, I’m not sure what JOCK worked on before I laid eyes on his Batwoman stuff, but he’s now been in Gotham long enough for me to say I enjoy what he does, his style, and his good timing.  I hope he keeps doing Gotham-related material after they shuffle everything around.  Not to say that the other artist who did a couple issues on this run is bad either.

If I wasn’t such a brokeass, this would totally be the run I would like to have in hardcover just to have it on my bookshelf.  This is definitely one of those runs where you’ll grow tired of putting and pulling back in & out of the longbox on the regular, I believe.  Snyder might be new but he can hang up there right next to Paul Dini and Morrison.
