This volume of Demo continues to be aces.  While the first one felt pretty weak to me, each successive story has not only been really engaging, but has left me wishing there were more to the story.  Not in a…huh…that felt sort of incomplete sort of way, but in an I would totally read a mini or maxi series based on this first issue.  It makes me wish Vertigo had a Pilot Season style program.

Cloonan’s art evokes Jeff Smith’s pencils, as if he were drawing characters with Paul Pope anatomy.  I love it.

  1. nice description on Cloonan’s art style.

  2. @jwaesch: Thanks. I love how she’s been drawing each issue in a slightly different style.   While I enjoyed her work in American Virgin, where it was colored, I think her work really shines in black and white.
