You would think with the "success" of X-Men: Wolverine Origins that Deadpool would've become a member of the team much quicker. I mean it's pretty obvious to have a guy like that around. When I say obvious I mean 'there is no way a guy like Deadpool should be trusted' because he is a big wild card. One minute he could be pals with you and the next he could shoot you dead. Well if your wondering how Deadpool would work on the X-Men then I should start off by saying:
In this issue Deadpool is a member of the X-Men!! Oh yeahhh!!!
Backtracking before he becomes a member, I think this is yet another soild issue for Way. This is still a comedy title to be sure, but I believe Way is trying to be a bit more serious to the character. He's more of a 'I feel bad about how crazy he is' type of character around others then just plain goofy. You do really feel bad for Wilson as he gets rejected at first. (Although the line of 'I say HELL NO' is a good laugh by Cyclops) Then when we see how this man lives in this danky deserted pool club (a nod to Daniel Ways first time writing the character in Wolverine Origins) then it does get pretty sad....and weird. The most random thing to come out of this series is shown, and yes it does topple the Meat Suit from before. Why Deadpool made almost 400,000 pancakes makes no sense; but who cares? It's funny! Then Deadpool interacting with Domino is a nice callback to the earlier series and gets some good banter between the two. It's not the most hilarious issue to come out; but there is a good amount of humor to get you by.
The art by Medina does seem to be a bit rougher then usual. Characters are kinda off model; especially the females in this. Or maybe I am noticing how cheesecakey Medina is around the female anatomy. Rouge and Emma Frost are drawn to look beautiful; but their porportions are kinda ridiculous in this issue. But he does draw a pool of endless pancakes real well. So I'll forgive him on that one. Plus the design for Deadpools own personal costume is pretty bad looking....on purpose. I think Deadpool believes it's the 1990's and that the uniforms are like basketball jersey's. This is still a good looking comic but it does seem like Medina wasn't on par as he normally was.
So Deadpool may very well be a member of the X-Men. When I cheered earlier I did forget to mention that he is only being 'considered' and not a full blown member yet. But I'm sure he will be inducted into the team....What could possibly go wrong with this idea?

@TNC – very fun review. I love the way that Medina draws Deadpool and the recurring characters, but I wasn’t as impressed with his characterizations of many of the X-Men. Domino looked ridiculous, although that did not detract from my enjoyment at seeing her fall into a stack of senseless pancakes.
If way can harness this Deadpool i’ll be super happy. These last 2 issues have been great!!!!
This is by far the most FUN the X-Men have been in years. I can’t remember the last time I laughed while reading an X-book. I say have Deadpool join up and put him in Uncanny as well.
@TNC: Ack! This book didn’t make it into my pile this week. Thanks for reminding me to pick it up. >_<
