Deadpool is awesome.

So what happens when you mix pirates with Deadpool? A fun comic to read.

It’s a little unfair to review this considering the last Deadpool comic (Merc with a Mouth) was a pile of garbage. But this random story of Wilson trying to become a pirate is fun to read. This does feel a bit more different then the past tweleve Deadpool issues. It isn’t as far out or wacky as the previous stories. Sure it has Deadpool forcing Bob: Agent of…well nothing I guess now to wear a parrot outfit the whole time. But still it’s a pretty mellow for a Daniel Way story. Still it has some pretty good one-liners and some good slapstick humor.

I can finally focus on the art without stating the obvious! That’s because Paco Medina isn’t on pencils this time; this time we have Shawn Crystal as penciler and inker. Never hearing of the man before I am very shocked to annouce I love this art style. Much more cartoony then what Medina was doing. If Deadpool could be a cartoon then this is the art style I want for Saturday mornings. He also fits the mellow attitude you could have at a beach if that makes any sense. My only complain is that sometimes the character models are a bit off. That blond woman that’s in this has a mouth that expands off and on.

So you got Deadpool as a pirate and a new artist who is actually pretty good. This is probably going to be a nice two issue slice before we get into another heavy arc. I know I’ll still be here sharing the laughs and enjoying my time with this. If only Way could denounce ‘Merc with a Mouth’ in same way though…
