“THIS BESMIRCHMENT WILL NOT STAND!”

With the very medicore crossover out of our heads; Daniel Way is back to do whatever he wants with the Merc with the Mouth. The good news? This title is still very funny and entertaining. The bad news? It’s still tied into Dark Reign…..*sighs*

Even if this title is shoehorned into Dark Reign, it’s for a reason. The only reason this title exists right now is because of Norman Osborn stealing intel from Nick Fury….which Deadpool helped the latter in the SI arc. Even if I have to see those dumb Avengers; at least I can smile at seeing this fight happen. Bullseye has been a friend/foe to Deadpool over the years. So there is a lot of fun to be had here since they have a history with each other. Before the fight starts we see Deadpool not a just a merc but a ‘Craigslist Gun-For-Hire’ It’s either really sad or funny that Wilson is down to using Craigslist to get any type of money offers. There were some fun to be had as Deadpool took hostage to a millionare and a pizza guy….and the reason why Deadpool had to kill one of them was funny. But it was kinda dragging it’s feet a bit, till Bullseye came in. This is only the start of the fight so it’s pretty much all set up. But a set up issue with Deadpool is better then most set up issues of anything.

It’s been ten issues of Paco Medina as artist, or at least nine considering Berberi did an issue. Considering that fact; it’s just impossible to think of new things to talk about. The art is always fantastic in this series. Even if your not a fan of Deadpool, you gotta admit the cartoony pencils he provides is perfect for this. Medina always layouts fight scenes as well. Even if this fight is like that last 5-6 pages of the issue; there’s still some things wild things going on. The whole sequence where Bullseye gets Wilson’s hand stuck in the door is laid out perfectly.

Yes this title is stuck in Dark Reign like all other Marvel titles…..Yes it’s annoying to see those smug, plain stupid Dark Avengers in a comic I enjoy. But Daniel Way is still able to make an enjoyable comic even with these roadblocks in front of him. As long as this fight with Bullseye stays entertaining, and the jokes keep on coming; then I’ll be enjoying myself with this three issue arc. This is also a great jumping on point for anyone who hasnt gotten into the ‘Craigslist Merc with a Mouth’.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

Comments

  1. You had me at "Deadpool fighting Bullseye"

  2. The jokes were still good, but the Dark Reign tie-in stuff is getting a bit tedious with this book.
