For a second there I really was thinking vampires exsisted in this universe. For some reason people with extraordinary gifts in the art of food is okay. But not vampires? Weird.

This issue marks the end of the second arc and I gotta say, this series still is killing it with fantastic character development and a deeper mystery. The introduction to Ray Jack Montero is just what the series need. A funny antagonist with a very sadistic side. Loved it how Layman called on it early on that Jack is talking to himself. Then we have the 'vampire' of the story and I don't believe he is introduced with a name yet. We just get a gist of his powers, like any cibopathic, and he does have a bit of a parallel to Chu. He is almost exactly like him but just the completel opposite. No idea what his ultimate plan his, but it will be very interesting to see where Layman takes the character.

I don't care about any lateness, prepaired 'hiatus', or anything else about this series. Rob Guillory can take his sweet time with this series as far as I'm considered. A beautiful looking issue from beginning to end. Adding little touches to the world like pictures or signs in the background. Or just add detail in general with forests and any other setting. He also makes any jokes or important moments look better. Like the phone conversation Chu has with Amelia at the end, just done in a way you wouldn't see in a normal comic. Little touches like that just make this book work more in favor of it being original.

I've grown completely in love with this series. Layman has great jokes in here but he's also setting up an intriguing mystery and cast of antagonists for Tony Chu. Add in the wonderful art by Rob Guillory and I really think this is one of the best comics in the stands now. Maybe Sweet Tooth edges it just a bit, but still you can't go wrong picking this series up.

*By the way, towards the end where Chu is sighing and has hearts all around him. Look at his desk, flip the comic around, and see the 'memo' Applebee left for him*
