This is the first issue of Catwoman I’ve bought since the new 52 began. And I really enjoyed it.

I, of course bought it for the Night of the Owls tie-in, which is one of the best events I’ve read in ages. It’s a nice clean, done in one story that gives you all the basics you need to enjoy it.

Winick seems to be having a lot of fun with the dialogue in this issue, especially the Penguin when he’s ranting. He really takes to the spirit of the Owls too. It’s admittedly a fairly predictable story, but it hits the right notes and is a fun ride.

A big part of that is March’s art. I had forgotten how much I love his style. Distinctive, dynamic, moody and yes, sexy. With the colors by Morey, it’s got a wonderful look that really works in this book.

I don’t generally follow Catwoman, but based on this issue, I’m thinking of picking up the first trade. That’s a pretty big compliment in my books.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
