The Leaper has return!! Oh How I have waiting for this day!

In all seriousness this is the next chapter for Captain America. We are finally done with the fantastic ‘Death of’ arc and we’re starting a new with Bucky as full fledged Cap. I think Brubaker is at his best with this series; cause damn me if X-Men and Daredevil have been nothing more then disappointing in my eyes. He knows how to write all these different characters and he knows when to add tension.

But he knows humor too, and I couldnt stop laughing with Batroc the Leaper. I’m sorry, any character with that ridiculous of a name and speaking mostly french is just too damn funny. Every panel with him fighting Bucky or ambushing the guard (funniest moment in the book for me) makes me realise this was going to be a fun arc. Now there is a lot of drama here, with flashbacks to WWII with Cap/Bucky/Human Torch in Japan. But Brubaker knows how to entertain us in different ways and I think this is a great new start for this title. Hopefully Brubaker can keep this series going to the max for how long he stays on this.

(Oh and one little note: Showing Cap fighting the Skrulls was something I enjoyed and was frustrated at, at the same time. I like it cause we finally have a timeline for this series…with the ‘Death of’ arc before the Invasion and this issue after the Invasion. But it frustrates me cause if this is what the Marvel U is like after the Invasion. It totally proves my point on how useless of an event this was. Just wanted to point that out)

  1. Nice review.  I’m glad to see that you’re such a big Leaper fan.  I actually thought most of his stuff was pretty annoying, only because I HATE when comics use a foreign language and don’t translate it.  It takes me out of the story, and causes me to skip entire pages and panels because I can’t read them.
