Brubaker has struggled of late to find a new story to tell for Steve Rogers. In this issue rather than looking for a new story Brubaker gives us a blast from the past. An unnamed violent vigilante has taken on the role as Scrourge, who is killing first and asking questions second. Diamondback (another great addition) got caught in the crossfire of Scrouge's attack, and Steve is set on a path of revenge. Though Steve doesn't make it far in his journey to discover who this new Scrouge is, the reader is far luckier as Brubaker reveals he is none other than Demolition Man, one of Cap's best friends in the 80s. Much like Bucky, D-Man was someone Steve couldn't protect and often assumes responsibility for him going down the wrong path. His reemergence will bring an emotional element that this story has been missing. It should be interesting to see the new love triangle between Cap, Sharon and Dimondback as well how Steve will handle seeing D-Man as the new villain. Though still not great writing, for the first time in a year I am interested to see what will happen next with this book. A good book with potentially a better next few issues.
