The Brood is one of those classic Marvel villains that, in the wrong artists’ hands look, not horrifying, but incredibly stupid and goofy.  Unfortunately, in this issue Guzman draws them as some sort of X-Files/Aliens crossover cartoon.  Something that would air Saturdays on Fox Kids in the late nineties.  (yes, I’m aware that The Brood is, at its heart, essentially an Aliens rip-off, but it’s possible to artistically make them a little more original)

There are also some incredibly odd coloring choices.  Hope and Cable being, at times, purple with no real explanation.  It appears as though they’re purple when they are supposed to be in shadow.  It doesn’t really make sense, but it’s as close to sense as I can come for the decision.

Storywise, the series is still spinning its wheels with Bishop and Cable playing hot potato with the future of mutantkind.
