A fun summer blockbuster movie.  Some of your favorite 90s X-characters are all in the future doing things they’ve sort of done before, with X-23, Hope, and a surprise cameo throw in for good measure.  This isn’t as epic and enthralling as Messiah Complex was.  And it seems to get a little less exciting as each issue wears on, but it’s still a fun read.

I’m a pro-Olivetti person, but this wasn’t my favorite isse that he’s worked on.  He even goes a bit digital at one point, and that really took me out of the book.  Even though it’s supposed to be a digital future, so why shouldn’t he add some tech to his repetoire?  Mainly, because it doesn’t work so well.  There’s some very incorrect anatomy going on in some of the action shots, and I’m not one to notice those things, so it must be pretty glaring.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 3 - Good

  1. I’m the exact opposite.  Normally I don’t care for Olivetti’s work but I found his work in this alot better.  Different strokes I guess.  I do agree that it seems the story is just trailing of.  Messiah Complex was better.

  2. Oh I don’t begrudge anyone liking or disliking any particular arttist.  I’m even known to talk to a friend who likes Leifeld.  Even know.  He still likes Liefeld.  But, apart from the weird anatomy of Hope, I didn’t hate the art.  It just didn’t affect me as much as, say, his Space Ghost run.
