Don’t read this one consecutively with any of Grant Morrison’s Batman & Robin issues, because your heart is likely to be broken. It’s not that Fabian Nicieza is bad, he just can’t deliver all of the information he has to give without the book drowning in exposition. There’s the assassination thing going on, and Bruce evaluating Dick and Damien, and this elaborate plot to deceive Vicki Vale … this story is going 100 miles an hour and I’m not sure if I care where it’s headed.

Cliff Richards’ art works most of the time, but certain pages, such as the first one with Vicki Vale, seem as hurried as the story itself. I’ve heard good things about Richards elsewhere, and I loved a lot of panels in this book, but there was definitely something missing. Unless they’re planning to keep Grayson in the Batsuit, a pairing which came in so well with Morrison and Quitely is going out flat.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
