This book is a bit of an odd duck. I’m instantly interested in it because it’s being written by Johns and Tomasi. But when I look deeper, I’m not sure I’m interested in many of the characters that it focuses on. I’ve never been a big fan of most of these characters. However, after reading the first issue I’m very intrigued about a few of them, and have no doubt that by the time this maxi- is over I’ll be chomping at the bit for more stories on all of them.

The Aquaman developments intrigued me immediately. I’ve dabbled in Hawkman over the past few year so I’m certainly on board for that storyline. As for the rest of the characters dealt with in this issue, I can take it or leave it. The art was servicable but didn’t knock my socks off. A good first issue with the promise of great stories to come.
