It seems after all of the things that our intrepid team has gone through, the reader is finally being filled in on the secrets behind many of the plot points that have been taking place.  As someone who has read this series from the beginning, I’m more than excited that the curtain is being pulled back on Butcher, the Seven, and all the other heroes in this world that Ennis has crafted.

This issue finds Hughie talking to The Legend as he reveals some of the secrets behind the super hero teams that populate the world.  Ennis presents an interesting take on the formation of a super hero team, and it also provides some background for the actions that the super heroes take in the world that they protect.  It helps paint a picture of just what the motivations of these teams are, and it also helps the reader understand more about Butcher and his fight against super powers.  In the background of all these revelations, we see Butcher meeting with the Homelander, the justice seeking leader of The Seven.  This meeting is mysterious, but it’s obvious that it’s going to lead to something big, which is exciting.

Robertson’s art continues to be excellent, and as the series continues, I feel that he also improves with each stroke of his pencil.  These characters are clearly defined, and Robertson is excellent at conveying emotion on the faces of his characters.

With each issue, this series continues to improve, and I have been enjoying more and more with each passing month.  I can’t wait to see where this takes us next.

  1. I was reading this title for a while but it never really grabbed me so I dropped it.  I’m definitely going to go back and pick up the trades.  I love Robertson’s artwork.
