A lot of what I’m told about Booster Gold’s series involves the death of the Blue Beetle way back in Infinite Crisis. That event had such a profound impact on Booster and has made him a more compelling character for the most part. This issue deals with Booster’s mourning process, and also how the death of Ted Kord has been changed by Maxwell Lord’s actions in Generation Lost. Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis are two writers who understand characters like Booster Gold, and this issue is powerful, engaging and emotionally poignant.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good

Comments

  1. I’m tempted to read this . . . I dropped it after the first issue with the new team.

    Thanks for the review.

  2. @ScorpionMasada  This is the first issue I’ve read since Geoff Johns, but since last week I’ve read the last five or six issues of this book; it’s decent stuff. Not the greatest, but certainly worth a look!

  3. I might see if they have a copy this week at the shop.

I actually dropped it when the current team came on not when Jurgens took over writing duties.

The Geoff John’s issues were excellent.

  4. @ScorpionMasada  Is the Jurgens stuff worth a look?

  5. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It felt like a natural continuation of John’s run in great part due to the fact that the art was the same. There were some good stories in the run.

I would have never dropped the book if Jurgens kept going.

  6. It is probably said better like this:

If you like the character, Booster Gold, you will like Jurgens’s run.

  7. @ScorpionMasada  Thanks, I’ll have to check it out! I like Booster Gold just fine =)
