Greg Rucka did a wonderful job of drawing me into the Blackest Night Wonder Woman.  Despite the multiple inkers problem, the first issue was amazing.  I loved the concept, the way he told the story.  He made me excited for a Wonder Woman story, which doesn’t happen very often.  And then he shit all over it.

I’m not as disappointed with this issue as I was with last issue’s “It was all an illusion!” cop out.  There aren’t any cheap writing tropes, but there’s also no life in this series.  Rucka’s writing falls very flat, which is a shame given Nicola Scott’s vibrant art.

Maybe it’s an editorial thing.  Maybe there was some sort of mandate about putting this story together in a certain way to fit into The Blackest Night.  All I know is there was a passion in issue one that’s just completely gone in the last two issues.  I wish he’d kept it as a one-shot.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
