Tough luck, Sinestro. Last issue you had the power of a god -- which, as Green Lantern #52 demonstrated, makes you immortal -- and in the next issue you lose it because it doesn't like your personality. Just like that. Life really is a bitch, and the incarnate spirit of life even more so.

Once again, Geoff Johns has played us. Sinestro getting the white light seemed like a great surprise, but it was an untenable ruse. Hal Jordan needed to have the power in the end because this miniseries is a treatise about death, grief and the will to live, and no one has more willpower than Hal. Johns is making a pretty shrewd statement about the comic-book heroes who've died, come back and found the strength to move on; as Hal says, "we all chose life when given the chance." It made it all the more satisfying to see the White Lanterns rise up and send Nekron packing.

That said, this issue left a lot of threads dangling and I think it crammed a lot of story into too little space. Never would I have imagined a book where the Anti-Monitor comes back to life and that's not the heroes' biggest priority, or where the resurrection of the Martian Manhunter gets dealt with in two sentences ("J'onn! You're alive!" "It appears so"). Regardless, the universe this book is setting up looks as if it'll be action-packed.
