I have really been looking forward to this book, and I’m glad to say that I finished reading it feeling more than satisfied.
Liu’s story felt like the beginnings of a great, gritty espionage story, and that was exactly what I was wanting/hoping for. The scenes with Natashya on the operating table were excruciating, and you just know that she is going to make SOMEBODY pay for this.
I also loved the interactions with her and Bucky at the dinner scene, and love them as a couple. I hope they keep them together for a good long while.
The art was also pretty good in this for me. It was dark in all the right ways, and I loved the way Widow looked throughout.
All in all, a good book, and one that will definitely be on my pull list for the forseeable future!

Art: 4 - Very Good

I agree completely. I appreciated that Liu kept this focused on espionage and intrigue instead of tight leather and gadgets, and Acuna’s artwork – while not always my favorite – worked here. And yeah, those scenes on the operating table? Visceral.
