Confession: I really dislike Marcus To’s art on this book. It’s too rudimentary.

As for story, the cover created an expectation of crap-ness…Batwing gets captured by some “pirates” wearing animal skins? (coupled with To’s cover art) I almost balked.

I was pleasantly suprised, Batwing #10 had as much plot action as Whedon’s Dollhouse Episode #6. (just look it up)
Without spoiling, I hope:
* Explosions and mass murder
* Intercontinental Travel
* New Villain (probably just for one issue) introduced, but NOT what I was expecting. And I like to be surprised.
* Shadowy figure pulling strings is revealed to be major power player already known in the DCU

In other words, a bunch of sh*t happens–and it’s interesting! Well paced, too.

Only real drawback: the art, man. Get the first story arc art team back on the job now, before readers jump ship.

This issue was WAY better than the cover would have you believe.
