Well, they can’t all be winners yeah?

Pak’s storytelling skill keeps this issue from sinking into the “just okay” realm. He still is bringing us an extremely enjoyable yarn about alternate reality Superman’s and Batman’s and even manages to weave in a touching story about Clark and Bruce meeting for the first time as kids.

I was a bit disappointed with Jae Lee’s art this time out – it seemed a bit rushed and unfinished – the lack of backgrounds was just TOO much this issue. I have to imagine that deadline constraints are keeping him from unleashing the firepower of his fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL 2H Drawing Pencil!

And I’m sorry, having two TOTALLY different styled artists in the same comic just throws me off man. Yildiray Cinar does a fine job during the flashback scenes but I just wish this interlude would have been a single issue done by Cinar alone and having Pak flesh out the story more.

Bottom line, the contrasting styles creates an uneven tone and diminishes the overall package.

Ahh well, like I said, win some, lose some.

Story: 4 - Very Good
