They did it to me again!!  The main story, House Of Hush, only takes up a small amount of this month’s copy of Streets Of Gotham.  The Bed Bug is definitely the coolest new villain to pop up in Gotham City.  I wish I would have thought of the character myself, especially at a time when bed bugs are actually a concern in today’s world.  It just makes him all the more creepy.  I wish we could get to see more of him but we quickly move over to Tommy Elliot and his new found friends.  They get into some shit, and that’s it.  We were fortunate enough to get appearances from the Bruce Wayne Batman, Commissioner Gordon, and even Penguin but I really felt the latter was just packed in there for the hell of it because very little of this story arc actually moves forward…

And now we get to read like 20-something pages of Ragman!!!  Does the cover of this issues say, “RAGMAN: Streets Of Gotham” or does it say, “BATMAN:  Streets Of Gotham”?!  I could swear that it said BATMAN on the cover but RAGMAN is the star of this show nonetheless, guys.

And you know what, it’s actually not too bad.  It actually makes for a decent second feature.  RAGMAN takes on a job as an assistance to Gotham’s medical examiner and stumbles upon a the mayor’s scheme to burn a section of Gotham down to the ground, probably to turn it into new real estate or something like that.  I don’t wanna give everything away, but Firefly makes a very notable appearance.

It’s actually quite an improvement over the original Ragman segment from a past issue, but I don’t see why they couldn’t just give us 10 pages of this and 20 pages of House Of HUSH as opposed to vice versa.  I don’t feel like second features should be taking up twice the space as the story people actually buy the damn comic book to read about, and I’m sure I’m definitely not the only person who feels that way…

  1. Shit. Might as well buy this arc as a trade.
