This was totally inappropriate! How dare they include Damian in all-ages stories after everyone knows he was impaled just 2 short months ago! I was appalled to find my children laughing at poor Damian as he played the pied piper to menacing turkeys and was taught the true meaning of Halloween! I mean, even I laughed! Why would DC keep such amusing Damian dialogue and father-and-son moments out of my comic shop until after his demise! Okay, that’s enough. Everyone who read this knows how welcomed and fun this issue was.

Lil Gotham #1 consists of two EXCELLENT stories (albeit out of season- it was originally a digital-only comic) with some of the best Damian moments to date. Nguyen and Fridolfs do a wonderful job. The Halloween story was better, but both stories had great art and read very well. I’m not sure if the rest of the series will feature Damian, but as it stands, this issue had a whole lot of the little brat in all his bratiness and it was great. He stayed true to character and brought lots of smiles. The villains, especially in the Halloween story, were pure comedy. It would be hard not to like this.

If you like Batman (especially B&R) pick it up, it will make you smile and remind you how fun comics can be, plus the covers are great (the Burnham variant needs a poster, classic!)

  1. Sorry folks, upon reflection this is really more of a 5/5 book. Nguyen’s water colors are great and the stories were super fun. I’m rounding up, 5/5.
