This is why I read comics. Morrison uses a juicy setting ripe for stories (I’m quite confused why there aren’t more stories about Native American reservation in film and television) and throws some crazy Batman action into it. I love that the Native American equivalent of Batman and Robin are poor, yet they mostly do charity work. I love that each page is just dripping with crazy ideas. I love that Chris Burnham is like Frank Quitely if Frank Quitely was three times faster. His art captures the imagination that Morrison has. It’s a gruesome story (Burnham loves the gore) but it never loses a sense of wonder. Also, it has Batman riding a horse. Batman riding a horse automatically makes a book fantastic.
