What can I say about this Black and White series? I love it; I absolutely, positively love this idea and the execution of all the stories. It’s simple really; DC took the best writers and artists and told them to make a short story on Batman. The catch? Make them into Black and White stories. It doesnt matter what you tell in your story or how you draw then as well, you just do what you wanna do.

Basically, these are some of the best Batman stories you’ll ever read. I’m serious, these little 5 page short stores to 15 page short stores rival that to the classic major stories of Batman himself (Like Killing Joke or Dark Knight Returns). Altough this is the second volume, my favorite story on any of these Black and White tales come from the first volume. It’s a tale with Neil Gaiman and Simon Bisley about how Batman and Joker practice and hate their life as comic book characters.

Anyways back to the reviewed volume, really really good stuff here as well. A great Joker origin by Paul Dini and Alex Ross. Kelly Puckett and Tim Sale do a fantastic short story on Bruce Wayne dreaming of his parents murder. Also, a great Golden Age story about would be criminals counterfitting money by Harlan Ellison and Gene Ha. That’s just the tip of the iceberg here, there are just too many stories to mention here. Go pick out both volumes of this series cause there isnt a bad story in the bunch. Plus the third volume is coming out soon which makes me giddy like a little girl…..

I mean you should look out for that as well…..
