I originally picked this title up because it was the return of Norm Bregfoyle to Batman comics. He was one of my favorite artists as a kid, and I was excited to see his pencils yet again. Last issue was great, but this issue was a ton of fun!

In the first story, we meet a great character in Mad Stan (he may not be new to the universe, but he’s new to me), who is an absolute delight to read. He’s violent. He’s crazy. And he’s in love with a Chihuahua named Boom-Boom. The plot of the story is driven by the supposed death of Mad Stan, and he proves to everyone that he’s still alive and kicking. In the sub plot, Bruce Wayne is using Wayne Industries to begin a new assault on crime, and we get to see some familiar characters all grown up. Bregfoyle’s pencils are great, and his action and character work is spot on. He continues to show why he was one of my favorites as a kid.

In the second story, we meet up with the Justice League as they continue their search for a lost hero. But they get more than they bargain for as they stumble across an abandoned Cadmus lab. This story is also great superhero fun, and as usual, Batman is awesome in this issue. The art from Dustin Nguyen is awesome as well, and you can see that is still bringing some fantastic pages to this all ages title.

Overall, these two stories combine to make some fantastic all ages fun. While I’ve never gotten into the Beyond cartoon series, I’m really loving these comic book stories. I tip my hat to these creators for making these stories so much fun and so accessible.

Story: 5 - Excellent
