I’ve yet to be let down by a battle For The Cowl title.  I feel that the world being written about gets more interesting issue by issue.  The Underground focuses on The Riddler, The Penguin, Two Face, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Firefly, and Catwoman.  It also fuels the flames of the Who is Black Glove, and Who is Batman mystery.  Chris Yost (is this his first non-Marvel title?) does a marvelous job with this fun, eventful romp in the post-Bruce Wayne batworld.

The coloring in this title is Marvely, too.  But it works with the penciling here.  The Penguin is a super Danny Devitoish, but everyone else just looks like a character, and not an actor who portrayed them in a movie.

  1. After reading your review of Dark Reign: The Cabal, I think I’ll drop that off my pull list and pick up this one.  I’m reading the main Battle for the Cowl book but not any of the ancillaries- will this book make sense in that context?

  2. @BC1: While reading the ancilleries does make this series more fun, it’s definitely not necessary.  All you need to know for this title is that there’s a bat shaped hole in the DCU, and a bunch of people running around trying to fill it.

  3. I just read this book and agree with you review akamuu, glad you enjoy the BFTC too.

  4. Thanks, Reform.
