After Hine and March’s disproportionate, supernatural excursion in “Judgment on Gotham,” I’m very excited that Daniel, Scott, and Winn are taking Batman back to the streets in the latest story arch “Pieces.”

Altogether, the new team on Batman continues to build a tense and fast-paced story. I found myself speeding through this issue just to get to another turn in the plot. Complimenting the pace, the art and panel structures are easy to follow and appealing. Familiar rogues plotting and street thugs getting punched are what I expect from a Batman book. And this issue delivers.

I’m happy with the current direction of Batman. This new run might be shortened by the impending DC relaunch, but I’m glad this title won’t leave with a whimper. The plot is a great rebound after the anticlimactic “Judgment on Gotham.” Good issue!
