I don’t know who this Brian Q. MIller guy is but I like him.

RIght from the great Phil Noto cover you know this is going to be something special. While the previous four issues have been light hearted and fun, this issue is all about emotional conflict. I know a lot of people have dismissed this book purely because either Stephanie is Batgirl, or Cassandra isn’t. I, for one, am becoming a huge fan of Stephanie. This issue really builds upon her character (I should note that I have no exposure to her before this series) With myself being twenty, unsure what to do with my life, and trying to prove to the world that I matter, I find her to be the most relatable character in comics today.

The argument between Dick and Barbara is as good as any action sequence. It’s nice to see a different side of Dick, where even though he was the one barging into the fight and screwing things up, it can’t be his fault because he’s Batman. The scene is perfect right down to a lettering touch that implies Barbara is calling him Dick with a lower case D.

The art started off a little rough for me early in the series, but Lee Garbett has gotten better with every issue.

The highlight of this book, though, is the best-written Damian this side of Grant Morrison. I could read pages of him and his polar opposite Stephanie for hours. I don’t really know how to describe why it was great, I guess it’s just something you have to experience for yourself.

Overall, this is the best issue of an already great series. While it focuses on character moments, it doesn’t sacrifice it’s humor. At this point, I’d go as far as saying this is my favorite Batbook.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
