Poor Joe Kelly has been wrote some amazing comics for Marvel and DC for years, including his recent awesome Spider-Man run.  And while he’s been having fun, they haven’t allowed him to swear.  So every panel in this book is more chock full of unnecessary potty mouth than your average Frank Miller rant. Kelly has another release this week, too: Bango Tango out on Vertigo.  While Bango Tango also has some naughty language in it, it also has a plot, and doesn’t suck.  Pick that up, instead.

  1. @akamuu. no dude Joe Kelly wrote Deadpool in the late 90s. Daniel Way writes it now

  2. Your review is a bit harsh. I actually got a couple laughs out of it. The plot actually reminded me of Tremors meets Teen Wolf, meets george carlin

  3. @edward…not confused, tired.  Meant to put Spider-man in there, but had just read the issue’s description and my fingers typed Deadpool.  Thanks for pointing that out so I could switch that up.

@jbraun: I just couldn’t get into it.  All I could think of was a twelve year old who had just learned to swear, throwing five or six swears a sentence.  Swears are meant for emphasis, they are not articles or prepositions (ok, Carlin can use them as prepositions, but Carlin spaces them out, and has a far better sense of timing than Kelly (or, to be fair, 98% iof the human population).  People are certainly welcome to like it, that’s what opinions are for.  I just found this an immense waste of paper, especially when compared with hit other release this week, which I thought was excellent.
