Early in the series the characterization was plain off. Cap was punching first and asking later. I suppose maybe the Avengers understood how serious the threat was, and were rushed to get Hope / a solution.

Either way the last two issues really hit a stride and the characters started making sense. Cyclops has not been depicted a corrupted misguided character – he has focus and corrects others who are losing control.

Instead real threats are being identified. Namely the Avengers and X-Men both have villains (or former villains)on their rosters. This is fertile ground to explore in a series titled Avengers v. X-Men. Sometimes the best ideas are the ones right under your nose. It was great fun and a great read.

Two gripes keep me from giving it a five.
(1) The Iron Fist angle is random as can be. But the mystic always has its place and I am sure Marvel is interested in propping up their film friendly characters.

(2) Why was Black Panther back? He walked out a few issues ago and stated he could not being involved as he is a nation leader. Here he has done a 180 and not only is helping the Avengers but is providing their base of operations. Confusing? If he came back in a tie in… there needed to at lease be a footnote. Maybe I missed something.

If I had my way Olivier Coipel would draw every Marvel event. That said, this seemed rushed. How could you rush art on your big even?

Finally, did anyone see Storm in her black panther gear? I think I saw her in one panel. Again random.
